The Vakil Mosque of Shiraz, Fars Province

The Vakil Mosque of Shiraz, Fars Province The Vakil Mosque takes it's name from the Vakil (regent) Kerim Khan Zand. Karim Khan used the title Vakil to tie his claim to legitamacy to the last remnants of the Safavid dynasty. But in fact he was the Shah of Iran and Shiraz was his capital. He built the mosque from 1751 to 1773.
