Classification: Persian Rugs / Iranian Rugs
These images and description were sent to me by a
Danish collector as part of a group of 5 rugs for evaluation. The
Seirafian signature commands a premium price in the market as long as
it is authentic. That was the question is this a Seirafian?
Description:
RUG
no. 1 : An Isfahan "Classic-style" medallion rug, 172 x 108 cm, silk
warp, weft undetermined (silk?), pile wool, low cut, knot count no less
than 10 x 11 cm2. Detail pictures 3291,3296, 3297, 3298, 3299,
3317,3318, 3319
This rug has been attributed to Master Hassan
Seirafian by the workshop of the Late Master Sadegh Seirafian. After
examining the description and images I defer to the Seirafians and
fully concur in that attribution. A detailed look at a particular rug
attributed convincingly to Sadegh Seirafian gives us a group of rugs
that we can use to authenticate other rugs.
