When I got back from the
13th annual Grand Carpet Exhibition in Tehran
I mentioned Dardashti carpets in a letter to OrientalRug@yahoogroups.com
Dr. Pat Doran was kind enough to share pictures of a
Dardashti in his collection.
I wrote the following.
"I
never heard of Dardashti until the Grand Exhibition
in Tehran. I was walking through the Isfahan section
with Mr. Yazdi, a senior official of the Iran Carpet
Company (the largest carpet company in the world) and
we were discussing the best Isfahan workshops. I
mentioned Haghighi and Seirafian and he said
and Dardashti. He then took me over and
introduced me to Mr. Dardashti and showed me the
rugs."

Subject: Dardashti
In the 1980's and 1990's I bought quite a few Dardashti
rugs I preferred his style over Serafian who was better
known.
Dardashti is well known for a sense of motion in his
carpets, I had one of his carpets with a falling leaves
design. As you said he should be better known outside of
Iran.
