Sobhe was one of the big
sellers at Kish. One of their custommers Mohamed Sassila of Silk Road
Collections told me that he placed a large order with
Sobhe because Abbas
Sayahi dyed the wool. Sobhe's policy of using the
very best is paying off. Would it be worth it to save a
small amount on each rug if it cost you big sales.
Kish
is not just about selling Persian Rugs. It is social and
a great time to make and renew contacts. But really sales
count a great deal. One of the big success of the show
was Sobhe Trading Tehran. With Dr. Khosrow Sobhe in the
US Eng. Ali and his brother Daryush Sobhe did a great job
of manning the Sobhe display. Sales were strong and the
Sobhe brothers sold a substantial amount of inventory,
Take for instance the 2 meter square Veramine soffreh
above. The colors are a little off above so please see
the detail shot immediately below. The piece uses
traditional craftsmanship with an attractive mixed pile
and flatweave format. The colors are all vegetal dyes. Many
people claim that but Ali and Daryush gained a great deal
of credibility by sending buyers over to meet Abbas
Sayahi who dyed the wool.

Sobhe Trading had a large attractive
display of rugs and carpets in natural colors and
American sizes.
Sobhe had a good assortment of Qashqai
rugs. These rugs are no longer being made and will be
very rare in the future since the Qashqai have stopped
weaving them. The weavers have now shifted to making
Gabbehs which are more profitable for he weavers.
On the left we see the very popular
Afshari flatwoven rugs. With skilled weavers and natural
dyes they compare very well to the best of the antique
Afshari rugs. Center we see the soffreh mentioned above.
On the right is a Qashqai Gabbeh which has been very
successful for Sobhe Trading.
