the Kish Carpet Festival 2005 Sayahi took Down Their
Display of Kilims
The first day the Kish Carpet Festival
Parham Sayahi whispered to me that it looked like a Sell
Out. By the second day Sayahi started baling the sold
merchandise.
Color is Critical
Abbas
Sayahi dyes the wool and he is the Master
Dyer of Iran. Red, white, and blue are standard
colors for natural dyers but it is hard to do
them better than Sayahi.
As for all the other shades Sayahi
is unmatched at the range and quality of colors
and shades he can achieve with natural dyes.

Tanavoli looking at the new line of Sayahi
sofrehs with Abbas
Sayahi. The line was inspired by Tanavoli's
classic work "The Sofreh of Kamo".
Parham Sayahi has worked hard to maintain the
traditions of Sofreh creation

Parviz
Tanavoli has been a pioneer in documenting examples
of Iran's weaving. Iran is at a crisis point in that
culture that is allowed to disappear now will never be
recovered. Tanavoli
and Sayahi
have been showing that preserving the weaving culture of
Iran is good business as well.
