Abbas Sayahi
The Master of Vegetal Dying in Iran
Scenes from the Sayahi Dye Plant

I have an article on
Abbas Sayahi at the Kish Carpet Fair that I call The Master of Vegetal Dying in Iran.
Abbas Sayahi is a remarkable man but so is his son
Parham.
See also Abbas and
Parham Sayahi and the movie Gabbeh
The facility is simple. Abbas Sayahi
has focused on helping the weavers get great color and
teaching his art to others who want to dye.
Dying is a heat sinsitive process. By
increasing the temperature of the dye bath dying times
are shortened.
The quality of the dye stuff is very
important. You cannot maintain consistant results from
inferior materials
. The Sayahis have
established their own farm to insure consistant
materials.
