Jraberd Eagle Karabagh Rugs

J’raberd ( Jeraberd) is both the name of a province and an ancient fortress in Armenian Artsakh, presently the Republic of Nogorno Karabagh. The Armenian word “jeraberd” translates to “water fortress” in English.

Description: Late 19th century piece. The open cream field with an apricot cloud band encloses a dragon and flaming pearl. This is within an arcaded cream and dark blue dragon mask border, featuring an open narrow outer surrounding section. There is minor color run and moth damage to reverse.
