Dr. Ali Ardeshir Larijani

Larijani is a strong supporter of Velayat-e Fiqh and a trusted friend of the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. His brother Mohammad-Javad Larijani is one of the key Iranian Conservative leaders. Larijani does well with voters who support state ownership and monopolies.

Dr. Ali Ardeshir Larijani was the president of the IRIB - Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (1994 to 2004). He was succeeded by his close associate Ezzatollah Zarghami. Reformists claim that Larijani played politics with the IRIB putting Reformists in a bad light. Larijani has the support of the Islamic Society of Engineers and is neogitiating with the Followers of Imam and Leadership Front.

"He is known to be one of their greatest strategists who has been leading the gradual but very effective crackdown on the entire reform movement. He has a PhD in philosophy and before he headed the IRIB for the past ten years, he was a top officer in the Revolutionary Guards." iranian.com: Hossein Derakhshan, Ali Larijani
