| Velayat-e faqih Ayatollah
Khomeini introduced Velayat-e faqih as the
theological underpinning of the Iranian
Revolution. Velayat-e faqih is rule by a
religious leader called the Fiqih. The Fiqih is
the the man who is respected by the people as the
just and pious jurist best qualified to lead
Iran. The Fiqih is therefore the Supreme Leader.
The first Fiqih was Ayatollah
Khomeini . His successor was to have been
Ayatollah Hossein Ali
Montazeri but after death of his son to
terrorists Montazeri's
fitness to be Fiqih was so deeply questioned that
Ayatollah Khomeini publicly
rebuked Monterazi. After the death of Ayatollah Khomeini Ayatollah Khamenei: was
recognized as the Fiqih.
