• Hassan Sobhani has served in the 5^th, 6^th, and now in the 7^th Majlis.
• Sobhani bested Ahmad Tavakoli in the fight for the Chairmanship of the Planning and Budget Commission of the seventh Majlis. There is speculation that Sobhani benefited from the long running Tavakoli/Rafsanjani feud and because of his good showing in the Speakers race, Tavakoli was a firm opponent of the Chairman of the Expediency Council Former President Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and it was said that electing Tavakoli would not help with the expediency council
