This rug from the workshop of Zareh Penyamian, one of the foremost
weavers of Kum Kapi rugs, combines both a classical design with
magnificent technical weaving. Cartoons found in Zareh's portfolio
include a typical design from a well known Top Kapi prayer rug that
shows the placement of cloudbands, inscriptions, arabesques and
palmettes similar to those found in the present rug.
