JBOC Comments: Seeing this bag is
like seeing an old friend. Sotheby's New York,
June 3, 1989, lot 24. was the very first
Shahsavan piece that I added to my notes. See A
Shahsavan Beetle Bag. One of the experts
remoinded me that this bag as in the bag show at
the Textile
Museum in Washington DC. Texas cardiologist
Bill Price bought this bag for more then $23,000
dollars in 1989 the last time it was up at
Sotheby's. That was seen by many as an amazing
price at the time. This time around the bag
failed to sell. With a estimate
20,000—30,000 USD this was no doubt a
disappointment for Dr. Price.
