University of Michigan BiographyRaymond Tanter Professor Emeritus Ph.D., Indiana rtanter@umich.edu As Professor Emeritus of Political Science and Research Associate at the Middle East Center at The University of Michigan, Tanter taught courses on the Arab-Israeli Conflict, International Security Affairs, and Ballistic Missile Defense. As Visiting Fellow at The Washington Institute for Near East Policy in 2001, Raymond Tanter wrote Rogue Nations, LeastResponsible States, and Hostile States. It is to be a part of book manuscript entitled Rational Rogues: Deterrence and Defense. In 20012002, Tanter is ScholarinResidence at The Middle East Institute in Washington, where he is testing the validity of rational choice ideas in explaining U.S. policies regarding Iran.
