Lot Notes The inscription has been repainted. It
is partially unreadable, but the majority reads:
hasb al-farmayesh-e navvab-e mostatab-e ashraf-e
vala haji muhammad husayn hushmat al-saltanah
tasvir-e mobarak-e marhum-e maghfur shahzadeh
imam Verdi mirza kashikchi bashi-ye
marhum-e maghfur-e fathalishah-e qajar
"By the order of
. Haji Muhammad
Husayn Hishmat al-Saltana, the
portrait of
the deceased Prince Imam Verdi Mirza
the
Chief Guard of Fath 'Ali Shah"
When the original inscription was written over it
seems to have been misread. It is most probable
it meant Muhammad Husayn Hishmat al-Dawla.
