More Oriental Rug Notes by Barry O'Connell

A Tie From Paul Shaper Productions

A tie is more than pattern or material. It is a balance between the two that makes the difference between good and great. Paul Shaper has brought out a line of great ties. They start with silk using rug patterns. They are well lined and tend to have a "heavy handle" much like a Countess Mara tie. If you are wearing a floppy "Four-in-Hand" knot which is the fashion today they tie perfectly. If you tend to be a little more conservative in dress they also are perfect for a full Windsor as I am wearing in the image to the right.

My son Mickey took the picture. We got a foot of snow so the roads were bad. In the Washington DC area one foot of snow is a huge amount. So we left for church early, real early. I tend to drive my family crazy but I hate to be late for church. So while we were waiting Mickey took my picture. I had the camera along because we were having an installation service for our new pastor whose parents were old friends of mine. This was a special occasion since the new Pastor and I see eye to eye on theology which is very rare. I am a Christian and I attend a church of the conservative Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Even in a conservative denomination I am in the far right in terms of theology. In is not that I am an extremist I just happen to believe that the Bible is inspired and innerrant Word of God. Of course I am not a Christian because I am a good man, quite the opposite, I am a Christian because I need God's Forgiveness.

Silk is difficult to take a picture of especially with a flash so please forgive me that the pattern is over exposed. I took a number of shots but this was the best. For color see the image above. I include this shot since I wanted to get a close-up of the Teke pattern. Most people spell that Tekke but Teke is correct.
