Saturday at Keshishian's

Both the weather and business was brisk today at Mark Keshishian and Sons. People were in buying rugs but repairs and cleaning add to the traffic. Repairs keep Keshishian's busy. The have a full repair department at their store in Chevy Chase and they also send a good bit of work to Turkey. Depending on the job they will bid it either or both ways. When people are willing to wait a little longer and are interested in saving money then Turkey is a viable alternative. For faster quality work then the work is done in Chevy Chase Maryland. Keshishians also has a large offsite cleaning plant for carpet and rug cleaning.

Seychour Rug

This is a particularly rare example of an antique white ground Seychour Rug. First of all please note the small single border that varies from side to end.

This is the way the rug came from the loom.
The other key point that makes this rug very rare is that the integrity of the sides are invaded by the Seychour cartoon. The small incursion in the detail of the border to the right is not something we see very often. This rug has been in the Keshishian collection for a very long time and recently has been unrolled and put out in the store.
