Notes on Hossein Derakhshan

Hossein Derakhshan (right) produces rugs in Fars Iran.
He is known for his line of natural dye Gabbehs.
While not as well known in the west as Sobhe or
Zollanvari he is well thought of. He is also the father
of the highly controversial blogger and journalist
Hossein Derakhshan a.k.a. Hoder. Unlike his son he is
noted for his ties to the strongest backers of Velayat-e
faqih in Iran.
(Saddly I have to note that the son Hossein Derakhshan
is being held in Iran under shameful conditions. Even
though Hossein Derakhshan has been very close to the Iranian
Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.
Unfortuneately not close enough to get his son ot of
prison. This is in part why many in the west who
respected Ayatollah
Seyed Ali Khamenei no longer hold him in the same
esteeme that they did before. 10/09/2009)

This
is a Qashqai rug from the village of Nimdeh.

The link now points to a very questionable site that I
suspect was taken after Hoder was imprisoned.
