There is a group of rugs, bags and trappings from western Afghanistan that are identified in the market place as Mashwani. Hazzara rugs and the Afghan Mushwanni rugs are clearly part of the greater group of Afghan Rugs.

The Baburnama of Zahiruddin Muhammad Babur mentions the Hazara extensively.

At one point the Hazara populated the central highlands of Afghanistan in the area west of Kabul and east of Herat. For almost 130 years there has been constant encrochment by the Pashtuns. Who took every oppertunity to enslave the Hazara and steal their land.

Long Narrow Kilims

One of the hallmarks of the kilim that the Hazara woce for indigenous us is that they tend to be long and narrow. Construction can be either single interlock tapestry or slit weave tapestry.
